Judge's ruling on CF sand plant pleases both sides

CHIPPEWA FALLS - Chippewa County Judge Roderick Cameron ruled Tuesday that a conditional use permit issued to Canadian Sand and Proppant is not complete and will have to return to the city's Plan Commission for more work.
Both sides are claiming victory with Cameron's ruling. Concerned Chippewa Citizens, which has fought the plan to bring the sand processing facility into the northeast corner of the city, stated it has "happily received" Cameron's written decision.
"We are very pleased with this decision," attorney Glenn Stoddard wrote in a news release. "It means the Plan Commission must consider the public interest and meet the requirements of the law."
However, City Attorney Bob Ferg said he had no problems with Cameron's ruling. He said it simply means the Plan Commission will have to compile written facts on how the sand plant would affect the city, such as detailing traffic flow and safety, adequacy of utilities and the plant's potential fiscal impact.
"We're OK - it's not a problem for us to sit down and writing some findings of fact," Ferg said. "We're very respectful of (Cameron's ruling), and we'll follow it."
